      E.L.K FOR MAHBOBA'S PROMISE

We are collaborating with artist, Luke Cornish (E.L.K) to release his Limited Edition artwork titled 'AFN' and donating 100% of the profit from every sale to Mahboba's Promise, a Sydney based NGO dedicated to helping the disadvantaged woman and children of Afghanistan.

      ABOUT THE ARTIST

      E.L.K @e.l.k

Luke Cornish is an Australian artist creating unique and powerful images from handmade stencils. His rise within the contemporary art world has been meteoric, becoming the first artist to be nominated for both the Archibald Prize and the Sulman Prize with a portrait he created entirely using stencils. Cornish is known in the urban art world by his moniker, ELK.

      ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"The work, titled 'AFN' (the abbreviation for Afghan Afghani, the official currency of Afghanistan) comes from a body of work that I exhibited in early 2021, called 'Don't shoot the messenger'.  The exhibition featured a series of Banknotes from different countries around the world, each stencilled with different imagery that explored the conflict and inequality faced by the population of the selected countries.  This piece, featuring an Afghani woman, dressed in a Burka, seeks to highlight the oppression of women under the strict Islamic law of Taliban rule, an issue that sadly, is no longer a thing of the past".

      ABOUT MAHBOBA'S PROMISE

Mahboba’s Promise was founded by Mahboba Rawi, an Afghan refugee and now an Australian citizen, who has experienced first-hand the effects of a country torn apart by years of war and civil unrest. With Mahboba’s intimate knowledge of Afghanistan, Mahboba’s Promise was able to respond effectively and flexibly, to directly meet the needs of the country’s orphans and widows. Since then, Mahboba’s Promise has established schools, shelters and health clinics across Afghanistan and provided numerous sponsorships to widows and orphans in need.
