ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jeswri is a radical artist best known for his large-scale street art and brand activations. He is a former graffiti writer, designer and art director and currently owns one of Melbourne's most exciting art galleries, Honey Bones.
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"As a child, I was exposed to much more than I should've been, drugs, alcohol and violence. I experienced a lot of domestic violence, and my immediate response was to call the police; they were called almost weekly for the first 8 years of my life. Every time they would come, there was no intervention or duty of care. They didn't care. As I got older and was exposed to graffiti and a life of crime; my attitude to police didn't get any healthier, and I spent my first night in the fishtanks at 15 and ongoing until 20, and at that time, they did not care, nor did they want to and though my experience alone I have complete lack of trust or respect for the police and I'm very vocal about how I feel."
